Improving the Students’ Speaking Ability Through Problem Based Learning Strategy at the First Years Students of SMP Al Bayan Makassar

ABSTRACT

This research was conducted into class action research which consist of two cycles. The title of the research was Improving the students’ speaking ability through problem based learning strategy at SMP Albayan Makassar. Problem Based Learning Strategy (PBL) as one of the strategies in teaching was crucial and significant in improving speaking ability in term of students’ speaking accuracy and fluency. The students’ speaking ability in accuracy of data source was 42, the First cycle was 65, 95, and the second cycle was 72, 14. The students’ progress from the data source to the First cycle was 1,57 % and to the second cycle was 171, 77 %. The students, speaking ability in fluency of data source was 42, in the First cycle was 60. 71, and in second cycle was 75, 24. The students’ progress from the data source to the First cycle was 144, 55% and to the second cycle was 179, 14%.
